Why App and Website Billing Can Look Different
- App subscriptions may be managed by Apple App Store / Google Play
- Website subscriptions are often billed directly by the service (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
- Each billing channel stores its own payment method and renewal rules
- Sync can be delayed (cache, session, or server-side refresh)
The key rule: the renewal source controls the payment method.

- If you subscribed inside the app, check App Store / Google Play subscriptions
- If you subscribed on the website, check the web billing portal
- Use the original receipt email to confirm the purchase channel
- Look for a transaction ID format (store vs. web processor)
App and web can show different “payment methods” because they’re not the same subscription.

- You have a web subscription and an old in-app subscription record still visible
- You logged into a different account in the app than on the website
