You updated a setting on the web version.
You closed the tab and assumed it was done.
Then you open the app.
Nothing changed.
So it feels like the app “ignored” your update.
Most of the time, the setting did change—just not in the place the app reads from.
Some services store web settings and app settings separately, or sync them with a delay.
Why This Happens
- The website updated a profile setting, but the app uses a different in-app preference
- You changed the setting on a different account in the browser
- The app cached old values and didn’t refresh yet
- The change requires a logout/login or a full restart to sync
- Some options only apply to web (or only apply to mobile)
How to Confirm What You Changed
- Open the website again and verify the setting is actually saved
- Check the signed-in email/username on both web and app
- Look for the same setting inside the app’s own settings menu
- Force close the app, reopen, and refresh the account page
- If there’s a “Sync” or “Save” button, use it—don’t rely on auto-save
What Not to Do
- Don’t change the same toggle repeatedly across web and app
- Don’t assume the app is broken before confirming the account
- Don’t delete the app as your first step (it rarely fixes sync logic)
If a web change doesn’t show in the app, it’s usually a sync or account mismatch—not a failed setting.
