I Canceled in the App — Why Does the Website Still Say “Active”?

You canceled the subscription inside the app.

You expected one thing: it should be off everywhere.

But the website still shows “Active”.

It feels like the cancellation didn’t work.

Or worse — like you’ll be charged again.

Most of the time, this is not a scam.

It’s a mismatch between where you subscribed and where the account checks status.

The #1 Reason: App Store Billing ≠ Website Billing

  • If you subscribed through Apple App Store or Google Play, the store controls billing.
  • The website may show “Active” because your access stays on until the end of the paid period.
  • Some sites only update status after the next billing check (not instantly).

Cancellation usually means “won’t renew.” It does not always mean “access ends now.”

Quick Checks (Do These in 60 Seconds)

  • Check your store subscription page (Apple/Google) and confirm it shows Expires on / Renews: Off.
  • On the website, look for words like “Active until [date]” or “Scheduled to end”.
  • Log out and log back in on web (cached status is common).
  • Make sure you’re on the same account (email/Apple ID/Google account mismatch happens a lot).

Why It Still Looks “Active” on the Website

  • Your plan is paid through the end of the cycle (normal).
  • The website status updates after a sync delay (hours to 48 hours).
  • You canceled a different subscription (another Apple ID / Google account).
  • The service has two plans: web plan + store plan, and you canceled only one.

How to Avoid Getting Charged Again

  • Take a screenshot of the store page showing “Renews Off” and the expiration date.
  • Check your card/bank for any upcoming renewal notification.
  • If the website still says “Active” after 48 hours, contact support and ask: “Is my subscription set to renew?”

If the store shows it won’t renew, you’re usually safe.

The website label is often a status display problem, not a billing problem.
