3월 7, 2026 by dodonestory

You upgraded your phone.

New device. Maybe a new number.

You try to log in.

The verification code is sent — to your old number.

Now you’re stuck.

Why This Happens Immediately After a Phone Change

When two-factor authentication is enabled, the account stores the number used during setup.

If that number changes outside the platform, the system has no way of knowing.

So during login, it sends the code to the last verified number on file.

If you no longer have access to that number, verification stops.

Why It Feels Like a Lock

You still know your password.

You still own the account.

But without access to the original verification method, the system treats you as unverified.

This isn’t a suspension.

It’s a missing authentication factor.

How Recovery Usually Works

Most platforms require one of the following:

  • Backup recovery codes saved during 2FA setup
  • Email-based identity confirmation
  • Manual identity verification with ID upload

Once ownership is confirmed, the phone number can be updated.

If you changed your phone and can’t pass verification,

the system is waiting for proof of identity before replacing the old number.

Recovery may take a few hours to several days depending on the platform’s review process.
