Cancelled the Service — Why Is App Store Auto-Billing Still Active?

You cancelled the subscription inside the service.

You received a cancellation confirmation.

But when you check your App Store subscriptions — it’s still active.

The renewal date is approaching.

Billing is still scheduled.

This happens because service cancellations and App Store cancellations are separate actions.

Why Auto-Billing Continues After Service Cancellation

  • The subscription was purchased via Apple App Store
  • Service support cannot cancel Apple billing directly
  • Cancelling access ≠ Cancelling store billing
  • App Store controls renewal and payment processing

If billing is managed by Apple, only Apple can stop the charge.

Common Signs Billing Is Still Active

  • Subscription appears in iPhone Settings
  • Renewal date is still scheduled
  • Billing status shows “Active”
  • No refund or cancellation record in Apple receipts

This means auto-renewal is still enabled.

How to Cancel App Store Auto-Billing Properly

  • Open iPhone Settings
  • Tap Apple ID → Subscriptions
  • Select the service
  • Tap “Cancel Subscription”

Once cancelled here, billing will stop at the next renewal date.

Important: Access vs Billing Difference

  • Service cancellation stops access
  • App Store cancellation stops payment

You must cancel both to fully terminate the subscription.

Failing to cancel App Store billing may result in unintended renewals.
